Juulia Kala is a filmmaker and artist educator living in Edinburgh, and working both in the UK and Finland.
Juulia explores the relationship of imagination, liminality and environment in her work. She works site-specifically, researching the local myths and folklore that emerge from the landscapes. Her work ranges from fiction to documentary, experimental films and mixed media work.
She has a BA in cinematography and editing from the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, (Finland) and she holds an MA in Film Directing from the international Kino Eyes Joint Master's Degree programme based in Portugal , Scotland and Estonia.
