Juulia Kala is a Finnish filmmaker and arts educator living in Edinburgh.
Juulia explores the relationship of imagination, liminality and environment in her work. She works site-specifically, researching and connecting with the local stories and folklore that emerge from the landscape. Her work ranges from fiction to documentary, experimental films, puppetry, performance and mixed media work.
She has a BA in cinematography and editing from the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, (Finland) and she holds an MA in Film Directing from the international Kino Eyes Joint Master's Degree programme based in Portugal, Scotland and Estonia.
